The Covid-19 pandemic has greatly increased the workload of this medical responder, intensifying the pressure under which all paramedics work and the broader service functions. Ambulance services are critical in their life-saving responses to acute medical emergencies, but secondary-triage (low medical priority) and events-related care are also key planks in a trusted service that provides for a high level of medical health and safety in the community.
The Royal Australian Mint has produced the aluminium-bronze coin housed in this cover. The 24 dots in the coloured area represent the 24/7 care provided by Australia’s vital ambulance service.
