Captures the magic of an iconic Australian design
Geelong resident and Silversmith Stuart Devlin was just 32 years old when he found himself in the running to design Australia's new Decimal Coinage in the swinging '60s. Devlin was reportedly reluctant to enter the competition - he thought it was a Graphic Designer's job! But his whimsical designs of Australian animals, including the Frilled-Neck Lizard seen here, instantly captured the hearts of the judging panel. History was made.

This coin's reverse motif may be familiar, but here, it's the Frilled-Neck Lizard as you've never seen him before. With tremendous contrast between the mirror-like planes and high-relief, frosted surfaces, the true artistry of Devlin's design becomes apparent.
