Description
In his third design for The Perth Mint’s Australian Wedge-tailed Eagle coin series, renowned engraver John M. Mercanti explores the relationships between a chick and its parents for a beautifully composed new portrayal.
The coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.99% pure silver in proof quality.
The coin’s reverse depicts a mother wedge-tailed eagle looking down lovingly on a chick. A male bird is portrayed hovering above them with its magnificent wings fully extended. The design also includes the inscription AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE, the 2018 year-date and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination are shown on the coin’s obverse.
The Perth Mint will issue no more than 5,000 Australian Wedge-tailed Eagle 2018 1oz Silver Proof Coins.
Each coin is housed in a classic Perth Mint presentation case within a themed, customised shipper, and is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
