To commemorate the Anzac Centenary, the Royal Australian Mint has partnered with News Corp Australia to develop, design and produce a limited edition fourteen-part coin collection recognising key themes from the First World War. An exclusive selection of these collections will include a limited edition 2015 $1 Coloured Frosted Unciculated Coin.
HISTORY AND SIGNIFICANCE
Based on photos chosen from the Australian War Memorial archive, the ANZAC Official Coin Collection will include fourteen coins that have been designed and produced by the Royal Australian Mint to mark significant aspects that occurred in the First World War.
The First World War themes featured in this collection include the war years, mateship, Light Horsemen, the home front, the Royal Australian Navy, Remembrance Day, Nurses, wartime animals, The Last Post, War Correspondents, Australian Flying Corps, Australian Imperial Force, the Unknown Soldier and the Gallipoli Landing.
Each coin in the fourteen-part ANZAC Official Coin Collection will be made available to the general public when purchasing News Corp publications from participating retail outlets from 11 – 26 April 2015. An additional coin, War Heroes, has been included as an extension of the collection available to the general public who subscribe to News Corp publications.
