2014 Fine Silver Six Coin Proof Set - Australian Design
Description
2014 Fine Silver Six Coin Proof Set - Australian Design - EXCLUSIVE LOW MINTAGE COLLECTION
On the 30th anniversary of Australia’s dollar coin, the Royal Australian Mint presents this extremely limited set. For those who truly love coins as objects of wealth, art, beauty and pride, this set celebrates these qualities with stunning silver pieces.
The establishment of a unique Australian currency played no small role in establishing a proud, thriving nation. After a history of various coins, tokens and promissory notes, British coins were used as local currency until 1910, just nine years after Federation. At this point the Australian Government issued its first national currency, and with it gave rise to a blossoming Australian identity. The Royal Australian Mint has participated in many defining moments in Australian currency: the introduction of decimal currency on 14 February 1966, and the birth of the dollar coin on 14 May 1984 among others. This fine silver six coin set celebrates another milestone on the dollar coin’s 30th anniversary.
