2000 Australian $20 Millennium Bi-Metal Gold & Silver Proof Coin
Description
To celebrate the Millenium Year, a special bimetal gold and silver coin has been released by The Perth Mint.
The proof-like coin features a 99.99% pure gold centrepiece, with the reverse design depicting a satellite view of Earth, from 1,000,000 kms above the most northerly point of Australia, surrounded by a 99.9% pure silver border carrying the inscription 'Third Millennium First Day 2000".
The 2000 Bi Metal coin has the reverse design depicting a satellite view of the earth which is divided into two areas seperated by the international dateline. The area to the west is experiencing the first day of the millennium and is pad printed with the date 01/01/2000. The area to the east, which is still in the last day of the 20th century is pad printed in the deep blue ocean, with the date 31/12/99.
