Australian scientist Howard Florey is widely recognised around the world as The Man who Developed Penicillin. He made it his life's work to develop the drug to a point where it was a viable common treatment; he saw no need for people to die from simple infections.
This fine silver proof coin is one of just 20 000 commemorative $1 coins. Each of the limited mintage legal tender coins is individually struck from a carefully prepared blank, producing a delicately frosted raised image complemented by a highly polished mirror-like background.
