2004 40th Anniversary of the Last Australian Penny $1 Proof Coin
This coin was released to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the final issue of Commonwealth Pre-Decimal coins in 1964. The reverse design shows four coin images surrounding a 1964 penny. They are the 1911 penny, the first date of Australian Pennies, and portraits of George V, George VI and Elizabeth II.
- Composition: Bi-metallic: 99.9% Copper inner centre, 99.9% Silver outer ring.
- Weight: 56.45 grams total (approx. 31.635g fine silver).
- Mintage: 16,437 pieces.
