During the Great War (World War I), approximately 330,000 Aussies served overseas. The letters and postcards they penned became cherished mementos for loved ones back home. The period of 1914-18 aligned with the "golden age" of the postcard, resulting in the creation of millions of exquisite embroidered silk postcards. Predominantly sourced from France, countless designs were specifically created for servicemen and women from Australia, New Zealand, Britain, France, Canada, and South Africa.
