45th Anniversary LX SS Torana Medallion Cover

The 1976 LX SS Torana was first produced 45 years ago. This medallion covers celebrates this anniversary.

Holden captured the attention of the Australian youth market with the release of its Torana models in the late 1960s. They were small bodied but powerful cars and included the GTR XU-1, which Peter Brock first drove to victory at Bathurst in 1972; the LH SLR5000 L34; and then the LX A9X, which also dominated on the race track, including claiming four out of five Bathurst victories from 1975 to 1979. The LX Torana, released in 1976, included Australia’s first three-door hatchback and an exciting new SS model. The SS was available with both versions of the Australian-built V8 (the 4.2 litre or 5.0 litre) or the 3.3-litre, six-cylinder engine. The SS also boasted a sportier interior and a stylish exterior, including striking side decals and a bold “SS” badge on the grille.
