2018 Three Coin Set - XXI Commonwealth Games

In 2018 Australia will welcome athletes from 70 nations and territories to the Gold Coast to compete in the XXI Commonwealth Games. Over 6600 athletes and team officials will participate in the 11-day sporting and cultural spectacle, which will be watched and celebrated by a global audience of 1.5 billion.

HISTORY AND SIGNIFIGANCE
The Commonwealth Games have been running since 1930, bringing together Commonwealth nations in the spirit of friendly competition and sporting endeavour. This will be the fifth time that Australia will host the Games, and the first time that it has been hosted in a regional Australian city. The coin designs are inspired by the 2018 Commonwealth Games prize medals - created by Quandamooka Country artist Delvene Cockatoo- Collins. Limited to a mintage of only 2018, this coin set gives us the opportunity to ‘Share the Dream’ of the XXI Commonwealth Games.

FEATURES AND DESIGN
• Obverse and reverse feature the designs of the gold, silver and bronze winners’ medals, along with an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II designed and sculpted by Ian Rank Broadley
