In 1997 to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the birth of Charles Kingsford-Smith the Royal Australian Mint released $1 Siver Proof Coin. This fine silver proof coin is one of just 20 000 commemorative one dollar coins. This fine silver proof coin is one of just 20 000 commemorative $1 coins. Each of the limited mintage legal tender coins is individually struck from a carefully prepared blank, producing a delicately frosted raised image complemented by a highly polished mirror-like background.
Coin reverse was designed by Wojciech Pietranik. The obverse design is the traditional portrait of Queen Elisabeth II by Raphael Maklouf.
