2016 Odin - Ruler Of The Aesir
The first coin in Legends of Asgard series features Odin, Ruler of the Aesir. He is depicted sitting on his throne in an impressive scene that includes the wolves, Freki and Geri, and the ravens, Muninn and Huginn.
Odin plays an important role in German and Norse mythology. He is prominently mentioned in the recorded history of the Germanic peoples, including the Vikings. He rules the Aesir from Asgard, while his wife, Frigg, is said to be the goddess of the clouds or atmosphere.
Frigg is associated with wisdom and said to have a sixth sense. This while Odin is associated with the gallows, battle, sorcery, frenzy, healing, death, royalty and the runic alphabet, especially in Norse mythology. His appearance on the first coin in the new Legends of Asgard Series is quite fitting.
The inscription on this side of the coin simply reads “Odin”. The obverse features Queen Elizabeth II, the ruling monarch of Tokelau, on the obverse.
Each coin is minted from 3oz pure silver, in an antique finish and features Max Relief - with a depth of 5mm, setting a new standard for coins struck in high relief.
An added feature is that each coin is edge numbered, with a matching paper certificate and is presented in a beautiful wooden case.
As the first in a series of 12 coins, don't miss out on this spectacular first issue.
