2009 Australian $1 UNC Coin - Centenary of the Age Pension (Ex Mint Roll)
2009 Australian $1 Uncirculated Coin - Centenary of the Age Pension (Ex Mint Roll)
Single $1.00 uncirculated coin inserted into 2x2 holder.
Celebrating 100 years of pension payments, the Royal Australian Mint has produced a $1 circulating coin which honours the contribution pensioners have made to the Australian society.
The Commonwealth Parliament passed the Invalid and Old-Age Pensions Act, creating the foundation of Australia's social security system, in mid-1908. With first payments in July 1909, the Age Pension was modest in its reach and its rate, providing just 65,500 age pensioners with a pension of up to 10 shillings a week. Today more than two million Australians receive the Age Pension.
PLEASE NOTE: As these are coined on circulation presses bag and minting marks will appear on these coins.
